History
Princeton University Ballet, founded in 2008 by Virginia Byron '10, Elizabeth Rosen '10, and Alexis Branagan '11, is Princeton's premier and only ballet group. PUB is student-run by graduate and undergraduate students and presents one show each semester as well as outreach guest performances.
We are a selective, innovative, and ground-breaking performance company presenting new works each semester to the campus and the greater Princeton community at large. Run by students, our mission is simple- to develop a space where students with exceptional ballet technique and training may expand their artistic capabilities in a supportive, caring, and encouraging environment. We are not your typical ballet organization. Having emerged from prestigious Ballet schools across the nation, including the School of American Ballet, Boston Ballet, Ballet West, MOVENYC, CityDance Conservatory, and many others, we strive to maintain the model of high-level choreography and performances from where we came, while expanding upon classical tradition and, ultimately, prioritizing an open and creatively diverse environment. We provide a supportive space for all of our dancers to choreograph and develop as artists, and welcome guest choreographers of all backgrounds to create original works on the company. Our diverse repertoire includes modern, contemporary ballet, and classical ballet pieces. We provide a space for dancers to continually expand their artistry and pride ourselves on our exploration of the cutting edge of contemporary-ballet.
Some guest choreographers we have invited include Durante Verzola, Gabrielle Lamb, Jennifer Archibald, Christopher Fleming, and Susan Jaffe.
